ABC's and 123's

I want to take a minute to brag about my baby boy. Even though he is only 2 yrs old, he is doing exceptionally well with learning his letters and numbers. I can start counting and he will join in and we count all the way to 10. He loves looking at letters too and saying them. His favorites are B, C, D, E, G, P, T, V, and Z. I think those are the easiest to say so that's why they are his favorites. On another note..he also loves to look at books with animals in it. We have taught him that different animals make different sounds. He can imitate the chicken, dog, cat, cow, elephant, seal, bird, owl, etc... His vocabulary has drastically improved and I am so impressed with how smart my little man has become. It just reminds me how fast he's growing and how much I miss that tiny baby lying on my chest sleeping so peacefully.

OMG!!!! Just got back from the movies with my mom. What a wonderful movie!!!!! I won't say much because I don't want to give it away for those of you who are planning on seeing it, but WOW!!!!! I cried so much! Gosh Nicholas Sparks really knows how to tug on the ole heart strings!!!! Okay I'm shutting up now! GO SEE IT!!!

Spartanburg

Well we spent the weekend in Spartanburg visiting family. It was a good time. We went to see my sister in-law and her husband yesterday evening and spent some time with them. Then we went and ate mexican with them as well. We didn't get to see our nephews because they were with their grandparents, but it was nice visiting with the family we got to see.

The Weekend

Well we had a pretty good weekend. We didn't do a whole lot, but it was good none the less. We got up yesterday morning and decided not to go to church because we all were not feeling that well. So, we waited around a while and then got dressed and went to Fatz for lunch. After Fatz, we went to Wal-Mart and picked out some material to make a quilt for Adam's bed. My parents bought him a picture while they were in Atlanta a few weeks ago and the picture had animals in it. Adam is a HUGE animal fan so we decided to do his room in animals. We have a little ways to go before his room will be finished. With this being an old house and my grandparents never did any upkeep on the house, we have to basically transform Adam's room before it will be ready. I'm gonna tear down wallpaper and paint the room, buy a rug because the floor is not carpeted, and then get his bed ready and then we should be good to go. I really wanna find some letters somewhere that I can spell out his name and put it on the wall. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know. I know they have them at Wal-Mart in the craft section, but I don't think they are quite big enough. So anyway, to wrap it all up..we had a good weekend just spending time with each other. Hope everyone else had a good one!

Such an Imagination

Adam had this towel with him the entire day yesterday. He mainly played with it and nothing else. It just amazes me how something so simple as a towel can fascinate a child.

Frustrating Morning

Now what I'm about to blog may sound like complaining and whining, but I consider it venting so bear with me.....

I made the choice to go to the grocery store this morning because well, Thursdays are usually my grocery shopping day unless something comes up and I have to go later on. Anyway, I had to take Adam with me because there was no one available to watch him at home. Granted, I don't do this very often for the obvious reasons, but this time I had no choice. However, Adam was not the problem this morning. We went to Walmart and made it through the store with no problems except the occasional grabbing that Adam did when things on the shelves were within his grasp. I know you're thinking..what was the problem then? I'm getting to it. So we get finished and go to checkout. Well I got in a line where a young black female was the cashier. I put my groceries on the belt and once she finished with the rude and obnoxious customer in front of me, I explained to her that I preferred not to have too many bags and that she could pack things tight in the bags. Remember that thought. She preceeds to tell me that the young white guy standing next to her was taking over the register and would be checking me out. She told him how I wanted my groceries packed and then left him to it. Now, I am a particular person when it comes to how the groceries are packed. It could be that I'm obsessive compulsive or it could be that I use to work at Bilo and Walmart and have just put a system into my head that has stuck for all these years. Anyway, I had placed my meats together, cold stuff together, cleaning products together, etc... Well this guy( which btw is scanning and bagging stuff at a 2 mph pace) has decided that he is going to place my chicken in a bag with the air freshener and my hamburger meat in a bag with the fabric softener. OMG!!!! You are kidding me, right! When I went to work for Walmart, that was a BIG NO NO!!! Obviously it doesn't take a genius to figure that out, but this guy didn't seem to quick on the uptake. Then to top it off, as if he wasn't going slow enough, two of his friends walked up behind me in line and he stood there talking to them while checking me out and paid more attention to what they were saying and doing than what he was suppose to be doing. Once he finished, I told him that I had used my debit card and then he proceeds to hand me the receipt, looks down and says, "Oh I'm sorry mam I forgot to scan your coupons." I told him that I would take them back and use them next time. Now I know that I could have taken the time to speak to a manager, but at that point in time I was just ready to get out of there. Needless to say, next time I'm in there, I will not go through his line, even if it means I stand in the longest line in there.

Okay now that I'm done venting, I will hush....ugh what a morning! I hope none of you have that kind of experience like I did.

Too Smart For Us

I've known for a while now that our child is a very smart little boy, but yesterday really confirmed it for me. I was taking clean laundry from the laundry room to our bedroom yesterday evening when I noticed that Adam was not in the living room with my dad so I figured he might be in his room playing. I didn't really pay it too much attention because I knew he was safe and okay. Well I heard a noise coming from the bathroom so I stepped into the hallway and looked into the bathroom and low and behold, Adam was standing on top of the toilet playing with brushes on a shelf that we have on the wall in the bathroom. I honestly did not know that he knew how to stand up on the toilet or would even attempt it because I figured he was too scared to try. Well I was proven wrong on that thought. I helped him down and told him that it was not safe to do that and that it was a bad thing to do. He hasn't attempted it again, but I'm just waiting to see if it happens again.

Random Pictures of Our Lil Man

Adam with his new haircut from Saturday.

Sitting on Papa Dean's tractor yesterday.

This was on the way home from Wal-Mart Saturday after the haircut. He had an Elmo Peek a Boo book in his arms.

Adam with his Dee Dee. He absolutely loves this dog!

This was Friday, I believe. We went to Wendy's for lunch and I got a strawberry milkshake. Needless to say, I only managed to get two sips from it before Adam took it over and finished it off. LOL

My Little Cowboy

Adam got ahold of his Papa's hat and when he put it on his head, he looked just like a little cowboy. It was too adorable!

What A Day!!!!!

This has been a crazy day! For the past couple of weeks, Adam has been pretty much on the well-behaved side and no major problems have occurred. Somehow though, today just seemed to turn that little train around and head it in the opposite direction. Since he got up at 8:30 this morning, he has been a terrible 2 year old. Now I know I may shock a few of you, but it's true. He has been completely unruly and just outright unbearable today. He woke up in an okay mood, but as we walk into Walmart today to get groceries, he started being a brat. He refused to sit in the buggy at first. It took both Wes and myself to get him in the buggy without causing a huge scene as the Walmart greeter just looked on like we were crazy or something of that nature. Then later on, after dropping the groceries off at home, we met up with my parents at Waffle House because it was almost 1 PM and I had not had anything to eat yet. Needless to say, we get there and he doesn't want to sit in a seat that they have and as you may know, Waffle House booths are not that big. He decided he wanted to show his attitude while we were there, so I took him to the restroom and showed him what happens when he doesn't behave in public places. Afterwards, I thought maybe a break might help so once we left Waffle House, we let Adam go with my parents to do whatever they had to do before my mom went to work. Once we all got back to the house, my dad informed me that Adam had only had a 5-10 minute nap in the car. GREAT!!!!!!! So this evening has been a continuance of what occurred earlier in the day. I have already had to make Adam sit on the couch twice and have gotten on to him about 3 times. I know that we should just be appreciative of them and trust me I am. I thank God for my child all the time! He is a miracle and a blessing, but sometimes it's hard to remember that part when you are having to be a disciplinarian and deal with the tantrums of a 2 year old.

Hurricane Ike

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/files/specials/interactives/_international/hurricane_ike/index.html?SITE=YAHOO&SECTION=HOME

I don't know how many of you have been keeping up with the path of this storm, but in case you haven't, here it is. Just click on the link and it will show you a projected path up until Tuesday. All of these people in the path of the storm need to be kept in our prayers.

Family Day

Yesterday was family day for us! We took Adam to the duck pond here in Anderson. We've been there before and he really enjoyed it last time we went so we decided to give it another try. We stopped at the convenient store on the way and bought a loaf of bread. BTW...don't ever do that! We ended up paying over 2 dollars for one loaf of bread! OUTRAGEOUS!!!! Anyway, we got there and it didn't take very long for Adam to go through that whole loaf. He kept throwing the pieces at the same ducks and only managed to actually get a few pieces right where the ducks were in the water. LOL I didn't mind though because he was having fun doing it. After we left, we decided to give the mall a try, but Adam was getting ill and tired so we ended up just coming back home so he could nap before we went to eat somewhere.

Adam aka Little Man

He loves having his picture taken.

I just love his smile! He said "cheese" right before I snapped the pic.

We really need to work on getting that thing away from him.

After he put these on, we called him "Mr. Hollywood"

The Power of Prayer

I would just like to say that prayer works! When my dad and mom split a few months ago, I started praying along with other people that they would come to their senses and realize that 28 years of marriage was not something to throw away and just forget about without fighting first. Well I am most pleased to report that the prayers were answered. God saw fit to bring them back together and open their eyes and hearts. My dad moved back in last weekend and things are going great so far. Matter of fact, they are going away for the weekend to Atlanta to spend some quality time together. It just took some faith and prayers on our part and my parents getting back in God's Will and recognizing what He wants for their lives. So for those of you who did pray for them, a huge thank you goes out to you from me!!!

When Did It Happen?

Ya know..I use to walk around during the day singing Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, etc...in my head. Now that I'm a mother, I walk around singing Barney, Elmo, Sesame Street, etc...in my head. Notice the difference? When did this happen? Will I ever get my own thoughts back? LOL Not that I'm complaining, but it would be nice to be able to sing something other than a cartoon every now and then.

A Great Friend of Mine

I just wanted to ask those of you who read this that you please keep one of my best friends in your thoughts and prayers. She was 20 weeks pregnant and a few days ago, she lost the baby. I can imagine that she is pretty devastated over this. She sent me a text message telling me the news, but said that she's not in the mood to talk to anyone at the moment. I'm just giving her space and I know she will contact me when she is ready. Anyway, just please pray for her and her husband during this sad time. Pray that they don't lose their faith in God and don't give up on their hopes and dreams of having another baby.

Greenville Zoo

We finally took Adam to the Greenville Zoo. I loved it so much more than Riverbank. There were a lot more animals and I felt like Adam enjoyed it more there than he did in Columbia. It was just a fun family day. I took a few pictures, but I still need to get more developed. My two favs are the giraffe and the cheetah. Wes's fav is the albino python. When I get the other pics developed, I will post them on here.
