Please Pray For Us

Sorry I haven't been blogging here lately, but there have been some personal issues going on here at my home. I won't go into grave detail, but I ask everyone of you to please say a prayer for my husband and me. We are having some problems and we are just trying to figure out what to do and do what's best for our son. I'll try to keep you all posted. Thank you!

Enjoying The Outdoors

Since today was such a beautiful day, I decided to take Adam outside for a little while and let him play. We've all been kinda couped up in the house this past week and I think we both needed a bit of fresh air. I took a few pics while we were outside so hope you enjoy.

Adam showing me his flower that he picked.

He stopped kicking the leaves long enough for me to snap this picture.

I thought this was a good picture of us.

Still playing in the leaves.

He was in mid kick when I snapped the photo.

Our neighbor's horses across the road from our house.

I just thought the color of this tree was pretty so I took a picture of it.

Finally Got it Cut

BEFORE

AFTER

I know it doesn't look like much of a change, but trust me..it is. I am so glad that I went this short because it's so much easier to deal with now. I hated having to stand there forever waiting for my hair to dry with the hairdryer. Now I would say 4 minutes max and it's dry. I LOVE IT and one of the best parts is Wes actually likes it too. :) BIG BONUS!!! Definitely a keeper!

A Mishap

I don't know how I did it, but somehow I managed to bust a blood vessel in my left eye. I woke up yesterday morning and discovered it when I looked in the mirror. My vision is fine and I don't have a headache so I'm not too concerned about it other than the fact, it looks awful. I've been coughing a lot here lately with this seasonal cold I got so I'm guessing that maybe I coughed a little too hard one tiem and it burst. I just hope it gets better soon.

Our Cowboy

Well this is our cowboy. I tried to get his entire body in the pick, but he kept moving around so I had to be quick with the picture taking. We actually stood him on the counter in the kitchen so we could take a decent picture. We left after that and went to our church for a trunk or treat. It was fun. Adam got lots of candy and he even went on a hayride with one of the girls in the church. He had lots of fun and passed out on the way home from church. LOL All in all, I would say it was a good night for him.

Happy Halloween!

With a Little Effort and Lots of Prayer

As some of you may know, Wes and I have been deliberating over if and when we were going to start trying to have another baby. Well, after much consideration, we have decided to start trying for Baby #2 in about a month. Well, let me put it to you this way. This week is my last week in the current birth control pack that I'm on. Instead of having it refilled, I am going off of the pill and allowing my body to get use to not having the pill in my system. Meanwhile, we are going to use other methods of birth control until I can get my monthly on my own without the help of drugs. Then once that happens, we are going to give it a try and see what happens. We really aren't going to try to the point of exhausting ourselves. We are in the mind frame that if it happens, great! If it doesn't happen, then we will be okay with that too. We really do want another child and even though Adam is still young, we don't want our children spaced far apart in age, even though there is nothing wrong with that. It's just a personal choice of ours. So just cross your finger, toes, and say lots of prayers for us. We are going to do our part and leave the rest in God's hands.

Feeling Rough

So this cold weather has definitely gotten to me. I woke up this morning feeling sluggish as ever. I have a sore throat and I'm all congested in my chest. It's awful! I'm hoping that it's just a 24 hr thing. I really don't want to have to go to the doctor or end up dragging this thing out too long.

A Silly Hat

So Adam decided that he wanted to be a cowboy for Halloween. Well my mom found a cowboy costume at Party City and bought it for him. We decided to try it on him tonight to see if we needed to make any adjustments since she had to buy a bigger size. Everything fit just fine, but the hat was a little tight and very unshapely. It looks more like a safari hat instead of a cowboy hat. So, I noticed that Walmart has some cowboy hats in the toy section and I plan to venture there sometime this week and pick up one for him because obviously the one that came with the outfit just won't do but meanwhile he has made it his new play thing. Anyway, we took this picture of him earlier because I wanted to share this image with everyone. So enjoy!

A Lazy Sunday

Well, this weekend has pretty much been a lazy relaxed one for us. We didn't really do anything or go anywhere too much. It was kinda odd because I'm use to be on the go during the weekend. Yesterday, we took Adam outside along with his big ball and tricycle and let him play outside for a little while. He ran around kicking the ball like it was a soccer ball and just had a great time. It took an army to get him back inside. Anyway, that was pretty much our weekend. We basically just hung out at home and spent time together. Hope everyone else had a great weekend.

Why Do We Allow This To Happen?

Stress
1: constraining force or influence: as a: a force exerted when one body or body part presses on, pulls on, pushes against, or tends to compress or twist another body or body part ; especially : the intensity of this mutual force commonly expressed in pounds per square inch b: the deformation caused in a body by such a force c: a physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation d: a state resulting from a stress ; especially : one of bodily or mental tension resulting from factors that tend to alter an existent equilibrium e: strain , pressure 2: emphasis , weight 3archaic : intense effort or exertion4: intensity of utterance given to a speech sound, syllable, or word producing relative loudness5 a: relative force or prominence of sound in verse b: a syllable having relative force or prominence6: accent 6a

As you can see this is what good ole Webster had to say about stress, but how do we break it down to our level? Well, on my level, stress is when your 2 yr old son refuses to listen to anything you have to say. Stress is when the kitchen is piled high with dishes and it seems that you will never get them done. Stress is when your child absolutely hates taking a bath and puts up a fight while you are trying to accomplish something that you yourself know is benefitting him and not harming him like he may think it is. Stress is being pushed to those limits that you see other people being pushed to and always swear you'll never become that person. Yeah you know, the screaming, breakdowns, crying, headaches, sky-high blood pressure, etc... Whatever the particular case may be for yourself. We get so drained and so stressed to the point where we are exhausted and just cannot function. If you are sitting there reading this and saying to yourself, " I'm never like this, I'm just fine 24/7/365", well consider yourself the luckiest person on the face of the planet. As for the rest of us, I just have one question to ask. WHY DO WE ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN? Are we masochistic or is it just something in our nature? I am a firm believer that we, as women, are naturally the bigger worriers. Somehow most men can just take things and let it roll off their backs like water on a duck. I, myself, try and remain as laid-back as possible, but that's not possible when the daily stresses of life and raising a toddler are raining down on me like a hellstorm. I do have to be grateful for my husband though. He helps as much as he possibly can and I honestly do not know where I would be if he wasn't in our lives. I don't know that I could handle it, but I'm sure I would make do if I had to. Anyway, I guess I said all of this because I was just trying to release some tension and just give my insight into why I think we stress so much. Please feel free to leave your cares or concerns in the comment box. Thanks again for listening.

My Four Day Weekend

We (my hubby and I) left out Thursday morning and went to Spartanburg to visit his parents. We actually got to go without our child for once. It was nice having time to ourselves even if we didn't do anything too fancy. I actually relaxed and caught up on some much needed R&R. It was also nice to spend time with Wes because I kinda felt like I had been neglecting him lately, but definitely not on purpose. Anyway, we had fun and even though I missed my child every single day, I knew I needed that time to myself and that it was way overdue.

Wrong Side of the Bed

I swear that's where Adam woke up this morning! He has been in the worst mood today. Nothing pleases him. My dad bought him a dvd player for his bedroom so he could watch his movies without us having to constantly watch barney, elmo, etc. Well yesterday he sat in there for a long time watching movies and never complained. Today, he's the exact opposite. He will start watching a movie for 5 mins and then wants it changed to something else. I finally told him that I was not going to change the movie every 5 minutes so he would have to be satisfied with whatever was in there at the time. UGHHH!!!! It's just been a crazed morning not to mention that he is super clingy to me today and I've got tons of housework to do plus packing because we are headed to my inlaws this weekend. Anyway, enough of my obnoxious rambling. Just wanted to say that I'm having an INSANE day today. What about the rest of you?

Adam

He loves for us to take pictures together!

My little cheeser!

Adam bouncing on his ball. He will bounce until he slides off of it and hits the floor.

Learning to Sing

Adam has learned how to sing a few songs over the past few weeks. We've taught him B.I.B.L.E and Itsy Bitsy Spider. He will also start singing whenever he hears a song playing on the radio or on television. I really wish I could manage to grab the camcorder in time, but I never can.

ABC's and 123's

I want to take a minute to brag about my baby boy. Even though he is only 2 yrs old, he is doing exceptionally well with learning his letters and numbers. I can start counting and he will join in and we count all the way to 10. He loves looking at letters too and saying them. His favorites are B, C, D, E, G, P, T, V, and Z. I think those are the easiest to say so that's why they are his favorites. On another note..he also loves to look at books with animals in it. We have taught him that different animals make different sounds. He can imitate the chicken, dog, cat, cow, elephant, seal, bird, owl, etc... His vocabulary has drastically improved and I am so impressed with how smart my little man has become. It just reminds me how fast he's growing and how much I miss that tiny baby lying on my chest sleeping so peacefully.

Nights in Rodanthe

OMG!!!! Just got back from the movies with my mom. What a wonderful movie!!!!! I won't say much because I don't want to give it away for those of you who are planning on seeing it, but WOW!!!!! I cried so much! Gosh Nicholas Sparks really knows how to tug on the ole heart strings!!!! Okay I'm shutting up now! GO SEE IT!!!

Spartanburg

Well we spent the weekend in Spartanburg visiting family. It was a good time. We went to see my sister in-law and her husband yesterday evening and spent some time with them. Then we went and ate mexican with them as well. We didn't get to see our nephews because they were with their grandparents, but it was nice visiting with the family we got to see.

The Weekend

Well we had a pretty good weekend. We didn't do a whole lot, but it was good none the less. We got up yesterday morning and decided not to go to church because we all were not feeling that well. So, we waited around a while and then got dressed and went to Fatz for lunch. After Fatz, we went to Wal-Mart and picked out some material to make a quilt for Adam's bed. My parents bought him a picture while they were in Atlanta a few weeks ago and the picture had animals in it. Adam is a HUGE animal fan so we decided to do his room in animals. We have a little ways to go before his room will be finished. With this being an old house and my grandparents never did any upkeep on the house, we have to basically transform Adam's room before it will be ready. I'm gonna tear down wallpaper and paint the room, buy a rug because the floor is not carpeted, and then get his bed ready and then we should be good to go. I really wanna find some letters somewhere that I can spell out his name and put it on the wall. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know. I know they have them at Wal-Mart in the craft section, but I don't think they are quite big enough. So anyway, to wrap it all up..we had a good weekend just spending time with each other. Hope everyone else had a good one!

Such an Imagination

Adam had this towel with him the entire day yesterday. He mainly played with it and nothing else. It just amazes me how something so simple as a towel can fascinate a child.

Frustrating Morning

Now what I'm about to blog may sound like complaining and whining, but I consider it venting so bear with me.....

I made the choice to go to the grocery store this morning because well, Thursdays are usually my grocery shopping day unless something comes up and I have to go later on. Anyway, I had to take Adam with me because there was no one available to watch him at home. Granted, I don't do this very often for the obvious reasons, but this time I had no choice. However, Adam was not the problem this morning. We went to Walmart and made it through the store with no problems except the occasional grabbing that Adam did when things on the shelves were within his grasp. I know you're thinking..what was the problem then? I'm getting to it. So we get finished and go to checkout. Well I got in a line where a young black female was the cashier. I put my groceries on the belt and once she finished with the rude and obnoxious customer in front of me, I explained to her that I preferred not to have too many bags and that she could pack things tight in the bags. Remember that thought. She preceeds to tell me that the young white guy standing next to her was taking over the register and would be checking me out. She told him how I wanted my groceries packed and then left him to it. Now, I am a particular person when it comes to how the groceries are packed. It could be that I'm obsessive compulsive or it could be that I use to work at Bilo and Walmart and have just put a system into my head that has stuck for all these years. Anyway, I had placed my meats together, cold stuff together, cleaning products together, etc... Well this guy( which btw is scanning and bagging stuff at a 2 mph pace) has decided that he is going to place my chicken in a bag with the air freshener and my hamburger meat in a bag with the fabric softener. OMG!!!! You are kidding me, right! When I went to work for Walmart, that was a BIG NO NO!!! Obviously it doesn't take a genius to figure that out, but this guy didn't seem to quick on the uptake. Then to top it off, as if he wasn't going slow enough, two of his friends walked up behind me in line and he stood there talking to them while checking me out and paid more attention to what they were saying and doing than what he was suppose to be doing. Once he finished, I told him that I had used my debit card and then he proceeds to hand me the receipt, looks down and says, "Oh I'm sorry mam I forgot to scan your coupons." I told him that I would take them back and use them next time. Now I know that I could have taken the time to speak to a manager, but at that point in time I was just ready to get out of there. Needless to say, next time I'm in there, I will not go through his line, even if it means I stand in the longest line in there.

Okay now that I'm done venting, I will hush....ugh what a morning! I hope none of you have that kind of experience like I did.

Too Smart For Us

I've known for a while now that our child is a very smart little boy, but yesterday really confirmed it for me. I was taking clean laundry from the laundry room to our bedroom yesterday evening when I noticed that Adam was not in the living room with my dad so I figured he might be in his room playing. I didn't really pay it too much attention because I knew he was safe and okay. Well I heard a noise coming from the bathroom so I stepped into the hallway and looked into the bathroom and low and behold, Adam was standing on top of the toilet playing with brushes on a shelf that we have on the wall in the bathroom. I honestly did not know that he knew how to stand up on the toilet or would even attempt it because I figured he was too scared to try. Well I was proven wrong on that thought. I helped him down and told him that it was not safe to do that and that it was a bad thing to do. He hasn't attempted it again, but I'm just waiting to see if it happens again.

Random Pictures of Our Lil Man

Adam with his new haircut from Saturday.

Sitting on Papa Dean's tractor yesterday.

This was on the way home from Wal-Mart Saturday after the haircut. He had an Elmo Peek a Boo book in his arms.

Adam with his Dee Dee. He absolutely loves this dog!

This was Friday, I believe. We went to Wendy's for lunch and I got a strawberry milkshake. Needless to say, I only managed to get two sips from it before Adam took it over and finished it off. LOL

My Little Cowboy

Adam got ahold of his Papa's hat and when he put it on his head, he looked just like a little cowboy. It was too adorable!

What A Day!!!!!

This has been a crazy day! For the past couple of weeks, Adam has been pretty much on the well-behaved side and no major problems have occurred. Somehow though, today just seemed to turn that little train around and head it in the opposite direction. Since he got up at 8:30 this morning, he has been a terrible 2 year old. Now I know I may shock a few of you, but it's true. He has been completely unruly and just outright unbearable today. He woke up in an okay mood, but as we walk into Walmart today to get groceries, he started being a brat. He refused to sit in the buggy at first. It took both Wes and myself to get him in the buggy without causing a huge scene as the Walmart greeter just looked on like we were crazy or something of that nature. Then later on, after dropping the groceries off at home, we met up with my parents at Waffle House because it was almost 1 PM and I had not had anything to eat yet. Needless to say, we get there and he doesn't want to sit in a seat that they have and as you may know, Waffle House booths are not that big. He decided he wanted to show his attitude while we were there, so I took him to the restroom and showed him what happens when he doesn't behave in public places. Afterwards, I thought maybe a break might help so once we left Waffle House, we let Adam go with my parents to do whatever they had to do before my mom went to work. Once we all got back to the house, my dad informed me that Adam had only had a 5-10 minute nap in the car. GREAT!!!!!!! So this evening has been a continuance of what occurred earlier in the day. I have already had to make Adam sit on the couch twice and have gotten on to him about 3 times. I know that we should just be appreciative of them and trust me I am. I thank God for my child all the time! He is a miracle and a blessing, but sometimes it's hard to remember that part when you are having to be a disciplinarian and deal with the tantrums of a 2 year old.

Hurricane Ike

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/files/specials/interactives/_international/hurricane_ike/index.html?SITE=YAHOO&SECTION=HOME

I don't know how many of you have been keeping up with the path of this storm, but in case you haven't, here it is. Just click on the link and it will show you a projected path up until Tuesday. All of these people in the path of the storm need to be kept in our prayers.

Family Day

Yesterday was family day for us! We took Adam to the duck pond here in Anderson. We've been there before and he really enjoyed it last time we went so we decided to give it another try. We stopped at the convenient store on the way and bought a loaf of bread. BTW...don't ever do that! We ended up paying over 2 dollars for one loaf of bread! OUTRAGEOUS!!!! Anyway, we got there and it didn't take very long for Adam to go through that whole loaf. He kept throwing the pieces at the same ducks and only managed to actually get a few pieces right where the ducks were in the water. LOL I didn't mind though because he was having fun doing it. After we left, we decided to give the mall a try, but Adam was getting ill and tired so we ended up just coming back home so he could nap before we went to eat somewhere.

Adam aka Little Man

He loves having his picture taken.

I just love his smile! He said "cheese" right before I snapped the pic.

We really need to work on getting that thing away from him.

After he put these on, we called him "Mr. Hollywood"

The Power of Prayer

I would just like to say that prayer works! When my dad and mom split a few months ago, I started praying along with other people that they would come to their senses and realize that 28 years of marriage was not something to throw away and just forget about without fighting first. Well I am most pleased to report that the prayers were answered. God saw fit to bring them back together and open their eyes and hearts. My dad moved back in last weekend and things are going great so far. Matter of fact, they are going away for the weekend to Atlanta to spend some quality time together. It just took some faith and prayers on our part and my parents getting back in God's Will and recognizing what He wants for their lives. So for those of you who did pray for them, a huge thank you goes out to you from me!!!

When Did It Happen?

Ya know..I use to walk around during the day singing Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, etc...in my head. Now that I'm a mother, I walk around singing Barney, Elmo, Sesame Street, etc...in my head. Notice the difference? When did this happen? Will I ever get my own thoughts back? LOL Not that I'm complaining, but it would be nice to be able to sing something other than a cartoon every now and then.

A Great Friend of Mine

I just wanted to ask those of you who read this that you please keep one of my best friends in your thoughts and prayers. She was 20 weeks pregnant and a few days ago, she lost the baby. I can imagine that she is pretty devastated over this. She sent me a text message telling me the news, but said that she's not in the mood to talk to anyone at the moment. I'm just giving her space and I know she will contact me when she is ready. Anyway, just please pray for her and her husband during this sad time. Pray that they don't lose their faith in God and don't give up on their hopes and dreams of having another baby.

Greenville Zoo

We finally took Adam to the Greenville Zoo. I loved it so much more than Riverbank. There were a lot more animals and I felt like Adam enjoyed it more there than he did in Columbia. It was just a fun family day. I took a few pictures, but I still need to get more developed. My two favs are the giraffe and the cheetah. Wes's fav is the albino python. When I get the other pics developed, I will post them on here.

A Papa and His Boy

I love these pictures of my dad and Adam. These two are usually inseparable when they are together.

The Weekend

We had a great weekend! We went to Spartanburg and spent some time with my inlaws. My brother in-law is staying with my father and mother inlaw right now so it was a crowded house, but it was nice because we haven't been able to see him in a very very long time. I think the last time we saw him was not long after Adam was born. We got there around lunchtime on friday and got to see our nephews for a little while. They are getting so big! Friday night, we went to my sister inlaw's house for a little while. Today before we came home, we went and saw my husband's dad for a little while and ended up coming home with lots of stuff that he gave us. Anyway, it was a nice weekend and great that we got to spend some time with family that we don't get to see on a regular basis. Tomorrow, we are gonna grill out with my parents and just spend some time with them. So I hope everyone had a great weekend and wonderful Labor Day tomorrow!

So Hard to Believe

I was doing some thinking the other night and it dawned on me that our little man is almost 2 and 1/2 yrs old. Where did the time go? When did this happen? I sit and watch him sometimes and I cannot believe that he has grown as fast as he has. He is so tall for his age and everyone swears he's at least 3. He's is in his cute stage right now. This child will literally crack you up laughing at some of the things he says or the facial expressions he makes. I've tried capturing these things on video tape, but it's almost as if a switch goes off when he sees a camera. He no longer thinks he needs to perform. LOL My mom tells me that I need to just set the camera up somewhere in the living room and have it running at all times. He is a mess and we love him so much! I can't even begin to imagine my life without him in it.

A Prayer for a Grandmother

As you all sit and read this, I ask that you say a special prayer for my friend's grandmother. She just recently found out that she has breast cancer and is having surgery tomorrow morning to remove the cancer. My friend is very worried about her grandmother and scared of losing her because she is the one who raised her and took care of her. I know what she is going through because almost 3 years ago, I sat at Oconee Memorial Hospital while my grandmother had surgery to remove cancer from her breast. My grandmother has been cancer free for almost 3 years now and I thank God everyday for that miracle! I ask that you remember the grandmother and my friend in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you!

Just Thought I Would Share

http://nightsinrodanthe.warnerbros.com/

I know most of you already know about this, but they are making a movie for Nicholas Sparks' book "Nights in Rodanthe". The movie will be in theaters around the beginning of October. I found the website and it has the trailer for the movie on it. Looks like a definite winner! I will be going to the theater for this one!

Pa's Birthday

Yesterday would have been my grandfather's 76th birthday. Sometimes it's still hard to believe that he is really gone and I miss him terribly, but I know he is in a much better place now and he is reunited with my grandmother in Heaven. I still have my wonderful memories of him and I do think about him all the time. So Happy Birthday Pa! We love you and miss you!

Praise

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God
who givesAnd takes away
I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
Those are just a few lyrics from the song "I Will Praise You in this Storm" by Casting Crowns. The sermon at church today was from Psalms and it spoke of hearing God's voice among the storm. My family has seen it's share of storms over the past few years as I'm sure everyone's family has. I've just recently discovered that when a storm comes my way, I should just stop, be still, and listen for God's voice. As the preacher said, God doesn't speak to our ears, he speaks to our hearts. I have to keep reminding myself that I cannot fix everything. I have to hand it over to God and let Him take care of it.

My Favorite Verse

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves."-- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Weekend Pictures

This is Wes's little cousin Madison. She is a little over a year old and such an adorable little girl.

The Three Muskateers!

I think they got tired of pictures being taken.
We went to Spartanburg on Saturday and spent the night with my inlaws. We finally got to go to Woodruff on Sunday and see my husband's grandparents that we haven't seen since Christmas. It was a lot of fun having the whole family together again. We sat around and talked for the longest time just catching up on what everyone had been doing since Christmas.

Mom's Birthday

Well tomorrow will be my Mom's 50th birthday. Sometimes it's hard to believe how time flies by so fast and I'm sure she is probably thinking the same thing. My Mom is such a strong woman and has endured so many obstacles over the years. She has always strived to be the best wife and mother that she could possibly be. These past few years have been extremely tough on her. She's took care of both of her parents and then watched them go on to be with the Lord. Just recently, she and my dad separated from one another and I think that has taken the biggest toll on her so far. I know, for those of you who know me a lot better like Amanda, it's probably a huge shock to read that last line. They've been separated for about 3 months now and she still has hope in her heart that he will come back home and they can revive their marriage. Anyway, through all of that, she has proven to be such a strong and amazing lady to me. So here's to you Mom! We love you and look forward to celebrating your birthday in style!

Count Your Blessings

I just wanted to say that I'm thankful for so many things. I'm thankful for my husband who loves me more and more each day and whom I love with every breath I breathe and every beat of my heart. I am thankful for my amazing child. Even though he pushes my patience to no end sometimes, he is truly a blessing to us and I cannot even begin to imagine life without him. I am thankful for wonderful family and friends that have been there no matter what through thick and thin and have supported us with all of their hearts. Anyway, I just felt the need to express what I'm thankful for. It definitely helps remind you once you see it written down.

A New Haircut

So we took Adam to get his hair cut today. We figured with it being like the upteenth haircut he has gotten that things would go smoothly. Yeah well we thought WRONG!!!! He was edgy the whole time the woman was cutting his hair. Poor woman, she was trying her best to be as fast as she could be without cutting or stabbing him. This was him a couple of hours after we got back home. He crawled up into the recliner, laid over, and went to sleep with his cup in his hand. It was so precious that I couldn't resist snapping a photo of him asleep this way.

Cups with Straws

While we were at Walmart today, I picked up the 4-pack of cups with straws in the toddler section. We got the ones with Mickey Mouse on them. Naturally, Adam was excited because it had Mickey Mouse on the side of the cup. When we got back home, I took one out and filled it with lemonade and gave it to him. He took it and immediately started drinking from it. I was so thrilled because now he can use those instead of using the sippy cups all the time.

OAN..I just wanted to say thank you to Allyson for pointing them out for me. I had seen them before, but it didn't register in my brain until you spoke about them in your blog. So thanks a lot girl! :)

Copycat

Well Adam is now in the stage of copying everything we do and say. Last night, I was saying something and using my hands to illustrate my point and he was standing next to me doing the same thing I was doing. It was so cute! I can also tell more development in his speech. He is learning so much and I'm so proud of him! It makes me smile just to think about how big he has gotten and how much he is learning every day. Okay well I just wanted to brag for lil bit. I'll write more later!

A Lot Better!

Well we took the band-aid off Adam's head today and it looked so much better. It's still healing, but it doesn't look as bad as it did yesterday. I am so impressed with how quickly he heals. I don't think it's really bothering him anymore, because he hasn't touched it or held his head like it's hurting. He was really whiney yesterday after it happened, but he really hasn't been today, but then again that could be because my inlaws are here and he loves playing with his papa.

Using a Straw

For some time now, we have tried to get Adam to suck out of a straw when he is drinking something and he would always refuse or act like he didn't know how to. Well the other day, I purchased a sippy cup with a built in straw, brought it home, and put some lemonade in it for him. I handed it to him and told him that was all he had to drink out of. Well, he suddenly figured out that he DID know how to drink from a straw. I was so happy for him because he figured it out all on his own and he is doing really well with it. From now on, when we go to a restaurant I think I'm just going to get them to bring me a kid's cup with a straw instead of having them fill up his sippy cup.

Shook Up Nerves

Today my nerves were totally tore up by Adam. He followed me into our bedroom because I needed to straighten up and make the bed. Well, he proceeded to go around to the far side of the bed and there isn't much room between the bed and the wall on that side. When he rounded the corner, he got caught, fell, and cut his forehead on the air vent. It didn't make a deep enough cut to involve the hospital or stitches, but it definitely made a big enough mark for everyone to see. I grabbed him up and took him into the kitchen and made Wes look at his head and reassure me that it didn't need stitches. Afterwards, I cleaned it with peroxide, put neosporin on it and then covered it with a band-aid. Yeah we have a child that has issues with band-aids as well because he was thrashing around and screaming when I cam towards him with the band-aid. I looked at it a few minutes ago and you can tell that a small bump has come up where the cut is. I'm just gonna try and keep it clean and bandaged until it heals. It's funny, if my nerves tear up when he is this small and gets hurt, how will I be once he's old enough to play sports?

Adam really enjoyed seeing these elephants.

Potty Training

So we officially had to move up to size 5 diapers for Adam just recently. The size 4 lasted him a long time, but they were starting to leave red marks around his legs and I knew that they were getting too tight for him. We have bought a potty for him and have actually sat him on it several times, but nothing has come out and he won't sit for very long. He has started saying the words, "I pee" a lot more, but by the time I get him to the toilet, he doesn't do anything. I've already figured out though that Adam is the type of child that he has to learn new things on his own time table. He hasn't always been the typical child when it came to development. He didn't crawl well until he was about 8 months. He didn't pull up and walk until he was a year old. He really didn't speak clearly until he was 2 years old. I think potty training is going to be something that we are gonna have to take one step at a time and be patient with. We bought the Elmo Potty dvd at Walmart and he really enjoys watching it. I was reading in the little manual that comes with it that some kids take longer and you just have to be patience with them because you can't rush them if they aren't ready. I really feel that's the approach we are gonna have to take with Adam. So for now, we will continue putting him on his potty when we goes to the bathroom with us and just cross our fingers that he learns how to use the potty soon.

Riverbank Zoo

Last month, we decided to take Adam to Riverbank Zoo in Columbia, SC. This was the first time that we had ever been to the zoo as a family. It was a great trip and we had lots of fun. I really enjoyed seeing Adam's face light up each time he saw a different animal. I think he loved the farm animals the most because he could actually touch them and get close enough to pet them. He really enjoyed getting to feed the goats. I could not believe how huge those goats were! When they stood on their hind legs, they were taller than any other human that happened to be standing near them at the time. It was so unreal. They must be a different breed of goat than what most farmers have around here. We met up with one of my best friends from high school and her family while we were down there. They live in Columbia so they came over to the zoo and walked around with us and then we ventured back to their house for a cookout. All in all, I would say we had a great day and by the time we drove back home that evening, we were all tired and ready to hit the bed.

Here is a picture of Cynthia(my friend), Emma Jean(Cynthia's daughter), and me. Nevermind that I was sweating to death and by that point had to pull what hair I had up into a small ponytail. It felt so humid down there and I swear that it is a lot hotter in Columbia than here in the upstate.

This was right after a goat took the feed out of Adam's hand. He was laughing because it tickled the inside of his hand.
